ABOUT

Rev. Steven Koster has been researching the Family Histories and Genealogy of Dutch-American families and communities for over a decade. He's helped dozens of families find their roots and explore their past.
He is the author of An Early History of Missaukee County.
Over the years, he's also served Calvin College, Avid Technology, ReFrame Media, and The Parsonage Inn, among others.

Knowing Our Story

It began with our own family, not really knowing who came to America and when. Did all our ancestors come from Holland? Were there Native Americans in our tree? We had someone's Death Certificate, but no knowledge of where they were born, who their parents were, if they had siblings, and more. Do we have any Dutch royalty from the House of Orange? Over time, we answered all those questions, and discovered a lost branch of the family!

Helping Families Know Theirs

Eventually, others asked for help.
  • Who were his grandparents?
  • Where did her adopted father come from?
  • He knows one branch, but what about the other?
  • She remembered a great aunt from her childhood 80 years ago, but who was she?
  • He didn't know anything about his biological father except a partial name; can we learn more?
  • I took a DNA test; now what do I do with it?
Every family has different questions, and different answers. By finding documents and relationships, by building family trees and genealogy reports, we can weave together the story of how your family came to be.
